On May 1, the Faculty of Law at Caucasus International University hosted the research presentation of the winning project of the University Fundamental Scientific Grant Competition:
“Legal and Technological Challenges of Implementing Digital Governance in Georgia (Based on the Example of Estonia’s Experience).”
The project is implemented by George Khatidze (project manager), Professor at the Faculty of Law, Caucasus International University, Zviad Gabisonia (project key personnel), Professor at the Faculty of Law, Caucasus International University, and Nino Jolia (project key personnel), PhD student at the faculty of Law.
The research project is implemented in partnership with the e-Governance Academy of Estonia.
During the presentation, project implementers George Khatidze, Zviad Gabisonia and Nino Jolia discussed key topics such as the concept of digital governance, international aspects of its development, the model of digital governance in Estonia, as well as the legal and technological challenges and opportunities related to the development of digital governance in Georgia.
The presentation emphasized the identification of the legal and technological prerequisites for the implementation of digital governance in Georgia, which represents the core objective of the research. It is noteworthy that several activities have been implemented within the framework of the project, including the signed Memorandum of Understanding between Caucasus International University and the e-Governance Academy of Estonia; A scientific-research visit of the project team to the e-Governance Academy in Estonia; The preparation of two scientific articles, one of which will be published in a Scopus-indexed journal; Written surveys and interviews conducted with the following institutions: Digital Governance Agency, Public Service Development Agency, Civil Service Bureau, and various municipal governments. Additionally, on May 27–29, the project team is scheduled to participate in the international conference organized by e-Governance Academy - “From Bytes to Benefits”, which will host 450 participants from 50 countries, including globally recognized experts in digital governance and technology law.
The presentation was attended by the leaders of Caucasus International University, faculty members, academic staff, representatives of the scientific community and students. The research will be published on the official website of Caucasus International University and will be available for the public and all interested parties.
