Vakhtang Maisaia and Alika Guchua’s Scientific Visit to Poland

From November 27 to December 3, representatives of Caucasus International University paid a scientific visit to the Republic of Poland. The delegation included Professor Vakhtang Maisaia, Head of the Master’s Educational Program in Global Politics and Security Studies (in English) and Head of the Master’s Educational Program in International Relations and International Security (in Georgian), as well as Associate Professor Alika Guchua, Deputy Dean of CIU Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Head of the Bachelor’s Educational Program in International Relations, and Head of CIU Institute for Strategic Studies of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Threats.
Within the framework of the scientific visit, the 14th International Scientific Conference titled “The Caucasus in the New World Order” was held in Rzeszów from November 27 to 30 co-organized by Caucasus International University. CIU professors participated in the event as keynote speakers.
Professor Vakhtang Maisaia delivered a presentation on the topic: “The Geostrategy of the Caucasus and the New Realities of the Georgian Geopolitical School in 21st-Century International Politics,” while Associate Professor Alika Guchua presented a paper on “Regional Security Policy of the South Caucasus in the Formation of a New World Order.”
In addition, within the framework of the conference, an international expert seminar and a panel discussion were also held on the topic “Regional Security Policy of the South Caucasus in the Formation of a New World Order.”
On December 1–2, Vakhtang Maisaia and Alika Guchua paid a visit to Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski to discuss scientific and research projects at the Józef Gołuchowski University of Applied Sciences. Meetings were held with the Rector of the university, Paweł Gotowiecki, during which issues of strategic partnership between the universities, new research initiatives, and Erasmus+ exchange programs were discussed. Furthermore, a meeting was organized with the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Technical Sciences, Professor Przemysław Furgacz, within the framework of which the publication of a joint monograph by Przemysław Furgacz and Alika Guchua in Poland was planned, titled “Geo-Economic Security: Theory and Practice”. Additionally, Professor Vakhtang Maisaia and Associate Professor Alex Chikhosi of the Józef Gołuchowski University of Applied Sciences (Poland) will publish a joint monograph in 2026 titled “Hybrid Warfare and the Factor of Mercenary Fighters.” The book will be published in Polish and funded by the Polish side.
On December 3–4, within the framework of the scientific visit, meetings were held with Anna Jach, Head of the Department of Eurasian Area Studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, as well as with Professor Joachim Diec, Head of the Chair of Eurasian Studies at the same university. During these meetings, issues of future collaboration were discussed, including the participation of CIU professors and doctoral students in an international scientific conference.
