The student project "MEDMARK Medical Research Masterclass Series 2026" has been awarded funding under the Caucasus International University Science Popularization Grant Competition, which supports and promotes the initiatives of academic staff and students.
The project is an innovative, two-month training program designed for medical students at Caucasus International University (CIU). The project aims to equip future physicians with essential, hands-on competencies in research methodology, study design, biostatistics, academic integrity, and the scientific publication process.
The project was initiated by Mohammad Barakat, a student of the Faculty of Medicine. As part of the project, a training session entitled “Introduction to Medical Research and Study Design, Bias & Methodology” was conducted. The session was delivered online by Prof. Pascale Salameh, Invited Professor and Research Associate at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, and Professor of Epidemiology at the Lebanese University. More than 100 students attended the event remotely, gaining valuable knowledge on medical research planning, study design selection, and the fundamental principles of scientific research methodology.
The purpose of the Caucasus International University Science Popularization Grant Competition is to encourage student initiatives to integrate them into scientific areas and develop leadership skills, to further stimulate their knowledge and interest in new scientific knowledge. Also, to encourage academic staff initiatives, in the implementation of which university students/graduates are involved.
