The third award ceremony of Caucasus International University (CIU) scientific prize Tamar was held at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia on May 3.
Rector of Caucasus International University, Kakhaber Kordzaia, Vice-President of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, Roin Metreveli, Rector of the Theological Academy, Protopresbyter, Father Giorgi Zviadadze, General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, Giorgi Kekelidze and Head of CIU Scientific Research Department, Sesili Gogiberidze welcomed the audience at the event.
Scientific Prize Tamar was awarded through a competition:
I prize was awarded to Professor Davit Maghradze, Academic Doctor of Agrarian Science, Deputy Dean in the Direction of Science, Co-Supervisor of the Undergraduate Program in Viticulture and Winemaking;
II prize was awarded to Sophio Kasradze, Academic Doctor of Medicine, Caucasus International University Associate Professor;
III prize was awarded to Vakhtang Maisaia, Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Supervisor of Postgraduate Program in International Relations and International Security.
The award for the young scientist was given to the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, PhD student Tamta Tsirkvadze, and the award for outstanding contribution to the development of the scientific field (constitutionalism) was given to Academician Mindia Ugrekhelidze and Associate Professor Beka Kantaria.
The award ceremony was attended by Tamar Makharashvili, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, Chairman of the Education and Science Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Tamar Taliashvili, First Deputy Chairperson of the Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science and Nino Tsereteli, Head of the Higher Education Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The winners were awarded cash prizes (3000/3000 GEL for outstanding contributions to the development of the scientific field to both contestants, I Prize - 3000 GEL, II Prize - 2000 GEL, III Prize - 1500 GEL, IV Prize - 1000 GEL for a young scientist) and golden medals made by company “Zarapkhana”.
Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, Chancellor and the founder of Caucasus International University, congratulated the winners on receiving the awards.
Tea Tsulukiani, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, representatives of state and private structures, as well as the university community and scientific circles attended the Tamar Award Ceremony.
10 academic staff of the university were thanked for their scientific activity, namely:
1. Olani Gotsiridze - Associate Professor of the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology;
2. Shengeli Kikilashvili - Assistant of the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology;
3. Alika Guchua - Associate Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences;
4. Zaza Tsotniashvili - Professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences;
5. Nino Mindiashvili - Associate Professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences;
6. Alexander Rusetsky - Associate Professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences;
7. Olga Dorokhina - Program Manager of the Caucasus Geopolitical Modeling Laboratory;
8. Tea Kasradze - Professor of the Faculty of Business;
9. Sophio Rigvava - Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine;
10. Nino Muradashvili - Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine;
For reference, the scientific prize “Tamar” was founded in 2017, which is awarded to scientists working at the university once every two years on the basis of scientific activities as the result of the competition.
The scientific prize was named after Georgian King Tamar, the implementer of the progressive and humane policy in the Caucasus, and the patron of intellectuals and artists. The mentioned initiative was implemented with the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
The King Tamar Science Prize has been an incentive for scientists working at Caucasus International University for many years, promoting their research and other scientific activities.
